What is Chiropractic?

What is Chiropractic and what can chiropractors treat? Chiropractors are experts at diagnosing, treating and preventing musculoskeletal (muscle & joint) problems throughout the body. Not only do chiropractors treat these painful conditions but they also appreciate the effect they can have on your nervous system and overall life.

At Lushington Chiropractic the particular focus in on getting to the root of the problem, helping the body to actually work better. We do this by improving the way muscles and joints actually work, ensuring your nervous system works at it’s best without interruption.

The techniques used will be tailored to your individual age and stage of life. We see pregnant mothers and very young babies ranging from just four weeks right through to older people in their nineties. We also have plenty of patients with osteoporosis, arthritis and other health concerns.

In every case the type of treatment and advice will vary according to the person’s needs. There is much more to a modern treatment than just manipulation.

There are a number of formal definitions of chiropractic. I’ve included the WFC Dictionary Definition. World Federation of Chiropractic, 2001 because they are one of the larger bodies that represent chiropractors:

“Chiropractic is a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health.”
